WSP USA Project Delivery Lead in Toronto, Ontario

The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking a Project Delivery Lead to join our Rail & Transit team in Toronto, Ontario.

Reporting to the Program Director, this position will be responsible for managing and leading multi-disciplinary teams for Major Projects. You will serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, define project objectives & scope, and ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

What you can expect do here:

  • Lead and/or participate in the development of project plans, defining objectives, scope, timeline, and resource requirements.

  • Act as the Primary point of contact for project stakeholders, managing stakeholder’s expectations.

  • Establish the interdisciplinary review process and facilitate or lead meetings as appropriate, with a focus on ensuring integration and communication within the Project team.

  • Prepare and implement, with the Quality Manager, document control staff and Design Lead, the design management and document control plans.

  • Analyze project management and project delivery risks, establish contingency plans and identify trigger events and responsibility for initiating mitigating action.

  • Work with Team Leads/Project Managers to monitor the overall performance of projects being undertaken by the department, ensuring effective and proactive management of project finances, scope, schedule, quality, and effective client service.

  • Provide mentoring, assistance, encouragement, and motivation to team members, including assisting the Department Manager with the establishment of development and performance goals, fostering an environment focused on achievement, and formal and informal performance review.

  • Maintain regular communication with clients regarding project status and project quality, and proactively resolve issues.

  • Manage relationships with project stakeholders, including internal and external clients and vendors, regulatory authorities and technical agencies, and the public. This involves keeping the stakeholders informed of progress and issues to manage expectations on all project requirements and deliverables and meet the project schedule.

  • Develop or finalize, in conjunction with the PCM, CM, DL and Project scheduler, a relation-based schedule identifying all Project deliverables and milestones required under the DSA and aligned with the Project WBS;

  • Manage staffing requirements for the Project, along with addressing personnel issues or disputes as they arise. Specifically oversee the performance of direct reporting Project staff.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • An Undergraduate Degree in Engineering or Architecture;

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • 10 Years of experience in Project or Design Management on large, complex rail and transit engineering and construction projects;

  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams of project professionals; concurrently managing issues, scope and quality while bringing projects to successful completion within the cost and time requirements;

  • Experience in project planning, risk management, cost management and schedule management, and methods of analyzing and reporting project performance on financial and other KPIs;

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including experience making presentations to senior management, elected officials and the public;

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; the ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience; competence in clear, concise and tactful communication with senior management, clients, peers and staff;

  • Strategic, conceptual analytical thinking and decision making skills;

  • Adaptability and flexibility including the ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change; and

  • Negotiating skills within a context of political sensitivity and conflicting interests.
