WSP USA Geotechnical Engineering Service Line Lead in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Role Overview

WSP has an exciting career opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineering Service Line Lead (SLL) to join our Desert Mountain Operation. This individual will manage the Geotechnical Group and will interface with other Geotechnical SLL’s across the West as we continue to expand our operations and add talented individuals to our teams. The Desert Mountain operation spans a 5-state geography including Utah, Montana, Idaho, Nevada and New Mexico and has a team of well-versed engineers and geologist engaged in challenging and rewarding projects across this geography. Location : This individual can work in either our South Jordan, UT or Albuquerque, NM offices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an established team delivering geotechnical and geologic projects to WSP’s clients across select market sectors- Transportation, Mining, Industrial/Commercial, Power, Federal, Oil and Gas and Water

  • Work with other Senior Engineer/Engineering Managers supporting our Geotechnical Engineering practice across the entire West

  • Lead and support business development and strategic planning efforts to increase market share in the priority markets

  • Supervise and direct staff to ensure optimal productivity, positive motivation, training, and employee recognition

  • Recruit/hire staff and direct project staffing assignments to meet client, contract and company business objectives

  • Act as program/project manager and/or provide senior level technical review for select projects providing geotechnical and geologic engineering

  • Manage and coordinate project teams and ensuring the technical quality of deliverables

  • Convey results and findings by means of oral discussions, graphic-based presentations and project documentation

  • Support financial, project management, and backlog needs for the Geotechnical Engineering Service Line in the Desert Mountain Operation

Requirements

  • BS and MS in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering

  • 10 years + experience in geotechnical and geological engineering,

  • Currently registered as a PE

  • Strong academic background and solid understanding of soil mechanics

  • Strong understanding of drilling methods, field investigations, and laboratory testing procedures

  • Proven effective leadership, business development, client management, and project management experience

  • Excellent communication, technical writing, interpersonal and presentation skills

  • Must pass background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
