WSP USA Consultant, Geotechnical Engineering in Atlanta, Georgia

WSP has an opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Ground Engineering and Design Team in Atlanta, Georgia . Your Impact

The successful candidate will provide solutions to complex problems in the energy, mining, water, and transportation markets by performing geotechnical engineering tasks, such as:

  • Subsurface explorations and interpretation of ground conditions

  • Specifying and interpreting laboratory tests

  • Engineering analyses for slope stability, settlement, liquefaction, and seepage

  • Design of foundations and earthen structures

  • Design of geosynthetic systems and retaining structures

  • Preparation of calculations, reports, and presentations

  • Preparation of design documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates

  • Monitoring of construction activities and construction quality

  • Preparing and implementing health and safety plans

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, geotechnical, or geological engineering, or an equivalent field of study

  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or the ability to complete the exam within six months of start date

  • An active focus on health and safety for themselves and others

  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to perform engineering calculations and analyses

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and on teams

  • Ability to direct others in the field such as subcontractors and drillers to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently

  • Comfortable working in remote settings and ability to travel for field assignments

  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment

  • Competence in the Microsoft Office suite of programs

  • Willing to work on projects across market sectors and locations and perform a variety of tasks as projects demand

  • Proven ability to upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.

Preferred Requirements

  • Master’s degree in civil, geotechnical, or geological engineering, or an equivalent field of study
