WSP USA Traffic Management Center Operator - Part Time in Aurora, Colorado

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. Your Impact

  • Must be able to monitor the Headquarter Communications Center and associated equipment at all times to include radios, phones, video and security surveillance equipment, Environmental, Intrusion and Fire Alarms systems, Toll Collection Systems (TCS) Plaza Operations computer monitoring systems, Variable Message Sign (VMS), Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), Geographic Positioning System (GPS)

  • Review and report on activity at all facilities and communicate appropriate level of incidents to the Road Management Supervisor, Road Management Manager, PHA (E-470 Public Highway Authority), and other agencies as necessary.

  • Maintain radio communications with E-470 and WSP, Public Safety 911 agencies and others regarding operations, maintenance, emergencies, tollway crashes and incidents, etc. on a constant basis

  • Respond and prioritizes emergency and non-emergency telephones and communicates with related staff, citizens and customers.

  • Dispatch appropriate E-470 and WSP personnel and others to respond to operations, maintenance, emergencies, tollway crashes and incidents, etc.

  • Maintain various electronic logs of incidents, communications, etc.

  • Prepare word-processed copies of handwritten incident reports. Perform other clerical duties such as record keeping, filing etc.

  • Inform key E-470 and WSP administrative personnel of emergency or potential emergency situations.

  • Perform related duties as assigned by Supervisor

  • Meet or exceed performance criteria established for the position

Required Qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of one year of general work experience, preferably in an office, call center or dispatch center environment.

  • Association of Public Safety Communications Officials basic telecommunications training is a plus

  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, activities and resources simultaneously

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to interface effectively with external and internal customers to coordinate accident/incident activity

  • Ability to organize and direct work activities.

  • Ability to discriminate and make decisions under intense stress.

  • Ability to react quickly, calmly and with good judgment in emergency situations.

  • Ability to work a variety of shifts as assigned, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Due to the nature of the position may require short notice overtime. Due to the demands of this position outstanding attendance is required.

  • Ability to achieve and maintain departmental performance standards including activating VMS for incidents with 10 minutes of confirmation, sending incident alert notifications within 10 minutes of confirmation, and responding to all critical alarms within 10 minutes of receipt.

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

  • Primarily sedentary physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 10 pounds

  • Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information

  • Frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communication

  • Daily use of computer and keyboard, standard office equipment and telephone

  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer

  • Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer keyboard and office equipment

Preferred Qualifications

FHWA SHRP2 certification is a plus. Certification within one year of hire will be provided if not already certified.

Associates Degree in Electronics or Computer Technology, or Emergency Management preferred but not required
