WSP USA Lead Consultant, Hydrology in Austin, Texas

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Lead Hydrologist for our Austin, TX office, but can sit out of any of our WSP Texas offices which includes Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio.

Your Impact

  • Apply independent professional judgement in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of hydrologic, hydrogeologic, and hydrogeochemical data

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee the preparation of or prepare project plans, studies, reports, and construction documents for water wells including public water supply wells

  • Experience with submitted well construction documents for public water supply wells (to TCEQ or alternate state regulatory agency) for approval

  • Ability to perform geospatial, geostatistical, and general quantitative analysis

  • Knowledgrable about standard field sampling procedures for various environmental media (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and air)

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience within Hydrology, Water Resources, or a related field.

  • Bachelors in Engineering in Hydrology, Water Resources or related field

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

  • The ability to think critically and effectively present and communicate ideas;

  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced work environment;

  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a team environment;

  • Possess strong analytical, collaborative and technical skills;

  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills;

  • Ability to work in the United States immediately

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE or PG certifications

  • Well-versed in at least one programming language: R, Python, Fortran, C/C++, C#, Julia, MATLAB or other related programming language widely used for quantitative analysis

  • Proficient in groundwater modeling and demonstrated ability in applying the MODFLOW/MT3D family of codes or related modeling codes such as FEFLOW, MIKE-x. Experience with codes such as HYDRUS, BASINS, SWAT or othey physically-based hydrological/hydrogeological codes will also be considered
