WSP is currently initiating a search for a Survey Crew Chief for our Charlotte, NC office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Survey Crew

  • Keep accurate and complete field notes

  • Communicate with office staff, train team members

  • Operate Leica robotic instrument, operate Leica total station, Leica data collector, Leica GPS (fast static, RTK and VRS), auto level and download data into computers each night

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, supplemental technical training in surveying and/or college level courses in surveying

  • 7+ years of land survey experience

  • Skilled in ALTA, topographic surveys, construction surveys

  • Knowledge of Leica field equipment

  • Knowledge of NCDOT field operations manual and safety regulations

  • Knowledge of Duke Energy field procedures and Duke Energy safety regulations

  • Excellent communication skills, field note taking, good math skills, ability to work as a one-person crew as necessary

  • Self-motivated, highly reliable and great work ethic

  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to travel as projects dictate

  • This role is subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of the client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
