WSP is currently initiating a search for a Quality Manager - Construction for our Chicago office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the oversight and compliance of the CM Quality Assurance Plan.

  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of activities performed by contractors for conformance with the contract documents and industry standards.

  • Assess contractor quality control and quality assurance documentation to ensure that it is being recorded, controlled, maintained, distributed, and retained in accordance with the client’s standards and requirements.

  • Prepare Monthly Project Quality Control Summary Report and chair monthly quality meetings with contractors and client.

  • Monitor all documentation related to the issuance and tracking/closing of Non Conformance Reports (NCR’s) and Quality Deficiency Reports (QDR’s).

  • Coordinate the work of the independent testing firm(s) and their contract.

  • Oversee and review on-site and off-site materials fabrication and inspection with help from CM Team Resident Engineers or other designees.

  • Review construction materials testing/inspection reports

  • Assess CM activities to assure that they remain effective and that they continue to meet the needs of the client

  • Other duties assigned by Resident Engineer or Project Manager.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a quality manager on major transportation related projects.

  • BSCE, Construction Management, or BS in Architectural Studies degree is required.

  • Have a working knowledge of railroad industry and various client specifications and contract managment processes.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Quality Management experience on transit/rail projects.

  • Quality Management Certifications are recommended.

  • Knowledge of construction quality assurance and control concepts and tools.

  • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to quality assurance and control on material testing and quality plan implementation.

  • Ability to work on multiple construction projects simultaneously.

  • Illinois Professional Engineer License preferred, but not required.
