WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Drainage Engineer for our Columbia, South Carolina office with experience in the design of hydraulics, drainage systems and stormwater management and erosion control for transportation projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing the following tasks:
Leading a Drainage Design team for large scale transportation projects.
Planning, scheduling, coordinating, and overseeing the work of Staff-level Engineers.
Directing client interaction.
Support business development initiatives.
Work as part of a design team to continually seek to identify and implement improved technical solutions throughout final design.
Perform quality assurance/quality control, ensuring that cost, schedule and quality objectives are met for transportation engineering activities.

BS degree in Civil Engineering.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in highway drainage design and plan production.
Experience with hydrology, hydraulics and stormwater management, drainage and erosion control design.
SC Professional Engineering (PE) License or ability to transfer within six months.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Affiliation with professional societies is highly desirable
Experience on Transportation Projects for both SCDOT and Local Municipalities in South Carolina is highly desired
