This Opportunity
The Dallas, TX Team is seeking an Associate Geoscientist/Environmental Scientist!
The Geoscientist/Environmental Scientist! responsibilities encompass supporting a successful business practice in WSP’S Site Investigation & Remediation (SIR) Line. Responsibilities include performance of field activities including but not limited to site visits, data collection, groundwater mapping, and soil or groundwater sampling activities. Geoscientist/Environmental Scientist responsibilities also include assisting with preparation of report graphics and written environmental reports and proposals. Secondary responsibilities include performance of internal projects as needed including but not limited to the development of internal documents, databases, and statements of qualifications. The Geoscientist/Environmental Scientist may also have the opportunity to oversee project budgets, subcontractors and clients to a limited degree and teach and train others on performance of technical field activities and other job duties.
Your Impact
Conduct Phase I and/or Phase II ESAs in addition to field work and data reduction as necessary to support Geosciences and Due Diligence projects.
Conduct field work and data reduction as needed to support projects executed by other Environmental Service Lines (Natural Resources, Regulatory Compliance, Cultural Resources, Storm Water).
Install ground water monitoring wells to include well installation, purging and sampling.
Collect soil, surface and ground water samples.
Interpret technical information and assist with preparation of technical reports.
Coordinate activities of subcontractors on assigned projects.
Assist in preparation of technical proposals and statements of qualifications (SOQs).
Conduct research and/or assist in conducting "walk-throughs" of project sites for the purpose of preparing proposals for projects.
Learn and understand project financial management fundamentals and resources and assist in overseeing or managing project budgets as required.
Oversee/train others in the execution of technical duties and/or project financial management tasks.
Provide Health and Safety oversight/management on field projects.
Performs other duties as assigned by Direct Report.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Geology/Environmental Science. Master’s degree preferred.
1 – 3 years of relevant experience
Familiarity with Texas geologic conditions.
Full understanding of Phase I and Phase II ESA requirements and components.
Proficiency in soil, groundwater and surface water collection procedures and protocols.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of software.
Ability to quickly establish proficiency with WSP procedures and protocols for performing Geosciences and Due Diligence project work.
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER/8-hour refresher.
Possess valid Texas driver’s license and meet company’s automobile insurability requirements.
Good oral communication skills to interact with clients, staff, and staff and regulatory agency personnel.
Excellent written communication skills for preparing proposals, reports, and other technical documents.
Good organizational skills.
Must able to pass a background check and motor vehicle check.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience and/or working knowledge of TCEQ TRRP, VCP, IOP, and PST programs.
Construction/contractor oversight experience.
Remediation and/or restoration experience.
Experience outside of Texas a plus.
Business development skills.
