WSP is currently initiating a search for a Texas Southwest District Development Director to be based in our Houston, Texas office. The following locations will also be considered: Dallas & Austin, Texas.

The TXSW District Development Director is responsible for driving top line growth as One WSP across the Transport & Infrastructure (inclusive of Water, PMCM, Planning and Advisory Services) Power & Energy, Earth & Environment and Property & Buildings business lines with primary focus in Texas. The TXSW District Development Director is a member of the Strategy & Growth Development Team, and partners with the district leadership team, reporting directly to the West Region Development Director.

Approximately 60-70% of the Texas SW District Development Director’s activities will be externally focused including the developing and growing of key client relationships, the discovery of opportunities for building the pipeline for all WSP end-markets and services across the National Business Lines/TXSW District, and maintaining a strong brand image for WSP in the USA within the industry. Internal responsibilities will focus on delivering the TXSW District's sales goals and key performance indicators, maintaining the growth orientation of the Districts' leadership team, and participation in the development and execution of the [NBL/District]'s strategic business plan, collaborating and partnering with the NBL leadership to build client engagement plans, and to drive positioning, teaming, and winning capture plans.

Your Impact

  • Partner to develop and implement the NBL/District's strategic plan

  • Early identification of key pursuits from a robust and active pipeline of opportunities

  • Assist in identifying and recruiting key personnel necessary to win and deliver the NBL/District's top opportunities

  • Partnering with the NBL/District's leadership team to develop and monitor business development budgets, civic and professional organization participation, and coaching client engagement teams

  • Performing as the champion and coordinator of the NBL/District's relationships with clients to align them with the NBL/District's interests

  • Providing personal engagement and leadership to the NBL/District's major pursuit strategies, proposals, and interview preparations

  • Delivering firm-wide resources to the key initiatives by building and maintaining strong relationships all across WSP business lines, end markets, and regions

  • Partnering with the District's Growth Team(SGT) Marketing Manager, who is responsible for the execution of the District's marketing and sales needs

  • Partnering with the NBL's Strategy & Growth Manager, who is responsible for facilitating the NBL's growth plans.

  • Collaborate with the Regional manager of state and local government affairs to supervise the NBL/District's civic engagement program

  • Representing the firm through involvement in high-impact client and industry events

  • Foster partnerships in the industry to inform the NBL/District's choices on building teams for the key pursuits

  • Partner with NBL Manager and National Communications leadership in developing and implementing the external brand and communications strategy to ensure the District's clients are aware of the firm’s initiatives, projects, and people.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor in engineering, business or related field. Masters a plus.

  • Minimum 15 years of infrastructure consulting/engineering experience, including at least five years of successful experience in developing client relationships and business development and management role for a multi-state region

  • Specific expertise in WSP business lines and established relationships with teaming partners and key client decision makers. Experience with managing profit and loss and metrics a plus.

  • Demonstrated experience leading by influence

  • Experience in leading and winning major strategic pursuits.

  • Excellent communication skills (presenting and writing)

  • Organized, self-starter with a strong entrepreneurial spirit
