Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of Highways Engineers and Technicians in our Exeter office delivering various local government highway schemes

  • Project Managing a portfolio of local government highway projects delivering local improvements to the network

  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary supporting teams from across the UK and the globe in delivery of projects.

  • Deputy Partnership Manager for one of our key local authority contracts and a key Client key contact including:

  • building and maintaining strong relationships and engaging with key clients, whilst forming trusting relationships with colleagues to ensure effective co-ordination for mutually beneficial outcomes

  • Attending Contract Board meetings

  • Prioritising client satisfaction and monitoring Key Performance Indicators

  • Leading on contract negotiations

  • Being part of the contract Senior Leadership Team and identifying opportunities for growth

  • Co-ordinating, developing and supporting project team members in their professional and personal development, promoting a culture of continuous improvement

  • Being part of the WSP Communities Management Team in the Exeter office developing the local business.

YOUR TEAM

  • We have a strong team which comprises members of staff, ranging from Associate to Apprentice. We work collaboratively with other WSP teams across disciplines and global locations.

  • Our team owns projects through their entire life cycle, from inception to construction. We have a varied workload from major highways improvements through to a diverse range of typical highway and traffic improvements.

  • Our primary Clients are Local Authorities within the South West where we have a number of long term professional services contracts.

  • We are passionate about supporting Local Authorities to deliver improvements for local communities, prioritising active and sustainable travel and supporting the local economy. We enjoy our work and are exceptionally enthusiastic people who are great at what we do. This is an excellent opportunity for you to develop in your career to a Senior Management Level.

  • Our office is in Exeter city centre. The South West has a wonderful variety of landscapes and activities to enjoy, and has good transport links to the rest of the country.

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE

  • A BEng / BSc (Hon) in Civil/Structural Engineering or other relevant qualification with experience in managing major construction projects.

  • Have a Chartered/Incorporated professional qualification in a relevant discipline.

  • Excellent inter-personal skills with good leadership and management abilities capable of communicating effectively with all parts of the business.

  • Good commercial and strategic capability with a demonstrable track record in having identified and subsequently delivered new business opportunities.

  • Expert stakeholder management and related relationship and team management skills.

  • Demonstrate the desire to constantly improve, motivate and encourage others, lead and implement change programmes, inspiring colleagues and drive an innovative and supportive culture. Act as a catalyst for change.

  • A broad range of project experience, both within Discipline and multi-disciplinary.

  • Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively, use own knowledge to support and coach others as required. Actively champion sharing knowledge, ideas and intelligence. Good presentation skills, able to lead and facilitate workshops, training sessions and one to one learning. Influential and persuasive internally and externally, encourages open dialogue and feedback.

  • Able to establish, build, sustain and share professional relationships with relevant groups both inside and outside the organisation.
