We are seeking an experienced Associate Director / Technical Director to lead our flagship and technically complex projects which range from those of national significance to other strategic or advisory projects. We provide the opportunity to work across sectors including renewable energy, commercial and industrial, residential, sports and leisure and infrastructure.

Leading by example by placing people and projects at the forefront of our working, including mentoring junior staff, contributing to the team’s technical advancements and taking a client-centric approach.

Promoting the WSP culture by taking a dynamic and collaborative approach to problem solving and delivering client focused global best practice with an emphasis on selling value not time.

We have a large, highly experienced and professional acoustics team showcasing their expertise on a diverse range of interesting projects across a number of sectors within the UK for both private and public sector clients. Our team prides itself on the integrated support offered by working alongside our in-house environmental and sustainability specialists, and regularly collaborating with our structural, rail and mechanical engineers, to deliver commercially balanced, innovative and integrated solutions.

The WSP Acoustics team are the winners of the 2020 ANC Award for Vibration Control and Prediction. The judges praised the creative and innovative approach to using Findwave to give the client the information they needed to proceed with a time critical project, with good collaboration demonstrated throughout.

The WSP Acoustics team were highly commended in the 2022 ANC Awards in the ‘Environmental Noise: Non Infrastructure’ category for Eden Project North, for undertaking a novel approach for this new mixed use leisure development in Morecambe to allow the

Client flexibility on the number of permissible events whilst giving the EHO confidence that significant adverse effects would be avoided.

The WSP Acoustics team are the winners of the 2023 ANC Award in the ‘Environmental Noise: Non Infrastructure’ category for Hinkley Point Power Station, for providing noise monitoring and expert advice during the offshore piling work, which has received a significant number of complaints from the local community. Our advice contributed to managing the noise impacts with the local community and enabled the client to meet their programme without incurring substantial additional costs.

  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification, and corporate membership of the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA / FIOA).

  • Demonstrable experience in environmental acoustics, with a thorough understanding of environmental acoustics and be capable of technically reviewing reports and proposals prepared by others.

  • Excellent technical, project management, presentation, report writing, commercial, health and safety, personal organisation and communication skills.

  • An enthusiastic, energetic outlook and willingness to learn, with a social and team spirited attitude
