WSP USA Senior Utility Coordinator in Indianapolis, Indiana

WSP is seeking to grow its Transportation team and is currently searching for a Senior Utility Coordinator for our Indianapolis, IN office. Be involved in projects with our Civil Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. The position requires strong technical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. The candidate must be an enthusiastic and motivated person to lead small to large sized projects and tasks and serve as a key technical resource on all types of challenging Roadway, Bridge Designers, Traffic and drainage projects.

Your Impact

· Utility Coordinator who will perform coordination for INDOT and LPA projects throughout Indiana on all types of transportation projects. The selected candidate will be responsible for work including conflict analysis, recommendation of conflict resolution, preparing agreements, approving final work plans and other related effort. Typical duties may include the following:

  • Utilizing INDOT’s UMS software to prepare coordination letters.

  • Responsible for Coordinating with utilities throughout all phases of the project to obtain final work plans and relocation schedules.

  • Responsible for contract and financial management of projects.

  • Grow and mentor engineering staff while collaborating with a variety of project teams within WSP USA.

  • Assist in the strategic growth of market sectors including marketing, proposal writing, and business development.

  • Create a professional environment of innovation, opportunity, development, and continuous improvement that supports office objectives.

  • Recruit, retain, and develop top industry talent.

  • Review Utility Work Plans and recommend for approval.

  • Lead or facilitate meetings involving utility specific activities.

  • Review Cost estimates and agreements for relocation.

  • Maintain database of all correspondence with utilities

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering

  • 5+ years of professional experience

  • INDOT Certified Utility Coordinator, or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Preferred Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Ability to work with civil engineering staff.

  • An excellent communicator and team leader.

  • INDOT and Local Public Agency (LPA) experience.

  • Understanding and knowledge of MicroStation.

  • Ability to provide value in marketing and business development activities.

  • Ability to independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and criteria using sound judgment.
