This Opportunity

We are looking for an * Early Career Water Engineer* to join our water team in the Pacific Mountain West District. This position can be located out of our Las Vegas, NV office which operate with a flexible hybrid-workplace model .

Your Impact

  • Assist with performing basic professional water engineering work relating the planning, design, and implementation of water projects, such as water supply, treatment, distribution, wastewater management, stormwater control, and/or stream restoration/fish passage projects.

  • Assist in collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, geotechnical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.

  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, drawings, specifications and cost estimates.

  • Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, sketches, calculations, and illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.

  • Work as an individual and as part of a cross-functional team of engineers to execute project work.

  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with an interest in water, or closely related discipline.

  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.

  • Strong understanding of fundamentals of engineering principals, particularly related to water related infrastructure and systems.

  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.

  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as collaboratively as part of a team to meet business objectives.

  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and related tools.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry standards.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineer in Training Certification.

  • Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, OpenRoads, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM).

  • Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.

  • A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations. #LI-JL1
