This Opportunity
WSP is seeking a Senior Human Health Risk Assessor with at least 10 years of experience to support our growing risk assessment and toxicology practice.
We are seeking an experienced human health risk assessor to collaborate with our current team of risk assessment professionals in project planning and execution as well as public outreach and stakeholder communication. Risk assessments will be prepared to meet the requirements of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and many States’ environmental regulatory programs.
The ideal candidate would work closely with our team in the Chelmsford, Massachusetts area while also being part of the larger operations within the company. WSP offers the opportunity and flexibility to balance work in the office and from home, with three in-office days expected.
Your Impact
The position will involve coordination and implementation of project work associated with multimedia (air, water, and soil) risk assessments and environmental regulatory compliance in the industrial/commercial and government sectors as well as project management. This position offers the opportunity to work with a large and diverse team of engineers and scientists to address complex environmental challenges and includes the following roles/responsibilities:
Direct and supervise technical assignments and manages entire projects or specific elements of projects;
Perform as lead risk assessor authoring proposals and projects;
Extensive client and regulator interaction, particularly with scoping of risk assessments and application of the risk assessment results and conclusions in site decision-making;
Provide technical review for projects to comply with environmental regulations, company standards, contract requirements, and related specifications; and
Occasional travel for projects, conferences, business development, or training.
Who You Are
B.S. or M.S. in Toxicology, Biology, Public Health or related scientific discipline
10+ years of relevant experience in conducting, authoring, directing, and performing technical review of multi-media human health risk assessments with increasing levels of project complexity and responsibility
Extensive hands-on knowledge of human health risk assessment principles, procedures, and guidance particularly USEPA CERCLA
Demonstrated successful interactions across a range of private sector and governmental clients
Performance and technical review of multi-media baseline human health risk assessments for common and emerging contaminants
Completion of projects through feasibility studies and Records of Decision (including identifying risk-based remedial goals)
Extensive experience in scoping, managing, and conducting risk assessment components for each of the stages of the CERCLA process including:
Development of work plans and QAPPs (including evaluating sampling strategies and appropriateness of data for risk assessment)
Experience with risk communication with clients and stakeholders, and at conferences and professional organizations including presenting complex technical information in a concise and accurate manner
Experience with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances is preferred
