WSP USA Senior Advisor, Media and Public Affairs in Montreal, Quebec

The Opportunity:

WSP Canada is seeking a Senior Advisor, Media and Public Affairs, to join the Marketing and Communications team. Reporting to the Director, Media and Public Affairs, the successful candidate ensures the strategic positioning of WSP with its main external stakeholders, by focusing on effective and beneficial communication strategies for WSP's influence in Canada. The successful candidate stands out for the quality of their advice and their execution capabilities, in support of WSP Canada's communications and public affairs priorities to obtain and maintain the company's visibility in the communities it serves, including the business community.

The incumbent will work in hybrid mode, with a minimum of three days in our Montreal Office.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Collaborate with senior management, leaders and key partners to develop and deploy strategies to strengthen WSP's positioning as a regional and national leader in Canada, consistently with internal marketing and communications campaigns.

  • Produce content for and contribute to the organization of public activities of the President and CEO and her colleagues on the management committee.

  • Target opportunities to position WSP Canada as a corporate citizen within the communities it serves and develop strategies to achieve this. Ensure the influence of its activities and its experts within communities, governments, and organizations or associations in Canada.

  • Execute and deploy communications strategies to position WSP as a leading player in social responsibility, particularly through its environmental, social and governance programs.

  • Follow up and make recommendations regarding donations and sponsorships, based on the objectives and principles of the Guidelines for Community Engagement.

  • Develop and write effective, modern and engaging external communications tools.

  • Act as a member of the WSP Canada crisis management team and contribute to the development and deployment of an effective crisis management plan.

  • Develop and deploy strategies and tools to monitor major issues that may influence WSP's business sectors.

  • Participate in evaluating the effectiveness of strategies and communicate results to stakeholders.

  • Contribute to government relations activities.

  • Collaborate on public relations campaigns for marketing activities.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Have at least six to eight years of professional experience in external communications, public affairs or media relations.

  • Have obtained a university degree in communications or a related field and have relevant experience.

  • Demonstrate strong command of French and English, written and oral.

  • Have exceptional writing skills to create innovative content that effectively reaches the target audience.

  • Have experience working collaboratively with key business stakeholders and as an agent of influence for members of senior management.

  • Demonstrate high professionalism and a strong sense of ethics in all activities and interactions.
