We are seeking a Civil Engineering Group Leader in our Nashville location to make a significant contribution to WSP USA’s strategic plan to increase our project management and business development capability. This will be a key role and a "practice building" opportunity. The successful candidate will manage the Civil Engineering practice as part of the Civil Technical Excellence Center (TEC) in Nashville, Knoxville as well as future areas of growth in the state. Responsibilities include managing multiple multi discipline complex projects for both public and private sector clients, coordinating with the Area Manager and State Transportation Lead, as well as local and regional TEC leads and reporting to the Regional Civil TEC Manager. Responsibilities also include design expertise, project management, leading pursuits, maintaining client relationships, staffing projects and QA/QC.
Responsibilities:
Create a challenging professional environment of innovation, opportunity, development and continuous improvement that supports office objectives
Work with the Area Manager to develop strategic initiatives and business plans for the area that align with the overall goals of the region
Successfully support office and area business objectives by wining and managing complex and major road / highway projects.
Lead and mentor staff
In concert with the Area Manager and Regional Management, determine staffing needs and be very involved in recruiting efforts and hiring decisions
Strong focus on collaboration with with state and regional leadership in pursuit proposals, client management and business development activities
Commitment to quality and continuous improvement through innovation, creative thinking and improved results
Establish and maintain cooperative and productive work relationships with all employees, clients and other stakeholders
Ensure consistency in project quality, budgetary constraints and expectations and that appropriate monitoring and control mechanisms are developed and administered.
Work in concert with other discipline leads to enhance the organization’s profile across the area

Minimum Qualifications:
BS degree in Civil Engineering
12+ years of experience in project and staff management on large civil transportation projects
Registration as a Professional Engineer in Tennessee
Strong experience with business development and pursuit proposals, as well as client management
Proven success in leading and managing significant transportation projects in Tennessee
Proven experience effectively leading and managing staff
Knowledge of civil highway/roadway engineering, planning, and design software including Geopak and Microstation InRoads
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
