WSP is currently initiating a search for an Asst. Resident Engineer for our Bronx, NY field office as part of our Rehabilitation of the Grand Concourse over Metro North. This complex project includes a structural repair and rehabilitation of a truss bridge carrying NYCT and the Grand Concourse roadway over Metro North railroad. Work may be performed on nights and weekends under track outages.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Resident Engineer in day to day operations of our Resident Engineering and Inspection team

  • Serve as our Sr. site representative in the absence of the Resident Engineer, on night shift, and during weekend outages

  • Attend and chair progress meetings

  • Report on project progress

  • Confirm work meets contract requirements

  • Coordinate reviews with appropriate stakeholders including NYCDOT, Metro-North, NYCT, Designer of record, Contractor, NYC Parks, and local property owners.

  • Coordinate inspection activities and quality assurance inspections

  • Confirm work is performed per approved Site specific work plans (SSWP)

  • Coordinate specialized services with WSP main office including industrial hygienists, structural engineers, estimators, schedulers, surveyors, etc.

  • Prepare daily reports

  • Assist in development of monthly Progress report

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8 years of construction management experience

  • B.S. Degree is Construction Management or Engineering

  • Professional Engineering License in NYS

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

  • This role is subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of the client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous NYCDOT experience

  • Prior experience working in an active rail environment

  • OSHA 30 certification

  • MNR and NYCT Track Safety certification

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
