WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time Senior Transit Construction Manager for our New York, NY, Baltimore, MD or Washington, D.C. office . We have an immediate opening for a highly skilled, experienced, and motivated construction manager. The Senior Transit Construction Manager is expected to serve as a project manager, deputy project manager or task manger and will assist with various types of multi-modal projects including roads, transit and rail. This position will work closely with civil, planning and environmental staff across WSPs Transit & Rail National Business Line and the East Region to support our clients in delivery of transformative transportation projects. Additional key responsibilities of this position include helping to manage projects and tasks, mentoring junior staff, and building and maintaining client relationships. Some travel to client locations is anticipated.

Your Impact

  • The successful candidate must be a team player and demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, technical skills, achieved through a diverse array of project work over time, and have a demonstrated working knowledge on transit and rail capital projects.

  • Assisting with project management and successfully delivering projects

  • Driving safety for the communities, clients, WSP, partners and contractors

  • Managing contractors on behalf of our clients to achieve program schedules and budgets

  • Providing advisory services to WSP’s clients to help reduce project risk throughout construction phase activities

  • Managing contract requirements, verification and validation activities, and supporting as-build documentation development

  • Leading change and scope management efforts

  • Composing correspondence and reports for project activities

  • Technical writing and presentation/report preparation

  • Participating in public and stakeholder public meetings and public participation/outreach processes

  • Developing strong working relationships with clients and teaming partners

  • Managing and mentoring staff

  • Assist with preparation of scopes of work, fee proposals, and technical responses to report and plans.

  • Collaborating extensively with other business units within WSP's Transit & Rail National Business Line for project delivery

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.

  • 15+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering, prior transportation, transit and rail experience, infrastructure construction and project delivery work. Experience working in the transportation construction management field, actively engaging in constructability reviews, value engineering, system integration, and operations maintenance handover relating to transportation project delivery.

  • Ability to effectively present and communicate ideas orally and in written form

  • Critical, strategic and creative thinking skills

  • Computer skills (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.

  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.

  • Experience with Microsoft Project or similar software is a plus.

  • Ability to gather, organize and analyze data critically and develop supporting information and reports

  • Understanding of project administration and management

  • Possess a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and positive attitude

  • Must be a team player

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering is preferred.

  • Essential professional licensure/certification.

Compensation: Expected Salary: $129,300 - $275,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
