WSP is currently initiating a search for a Assistant Civil/Coastal Engineer for our Portland, Oregon/Multnomah office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist and support design teams in the execution of projects;

  • Provide technical input during various stages of project, including preliminary design, final design and contract documentation including cost estimates and specifications;

  • Discuss and propose solutions to technical issues;

  • Maintain positive team relationships;

  • Assist and coordinate with key staff across disciplines (i.e. drainage, structures) as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in accredited Civil Engineering Undergraduate or Graduate program

  • 1 year or less post graduate work experience

  • Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills

  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products

  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with roadway design software such as Microstation or Autocad including working knowledge of Geopak software

  • E.I.T. Certification or Intention to obtain such when available

  • Experience with roadway design through internships

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
