WSP USA Site Manager, Questa Mine Wastewater Treatment Plant in Questa, New Mexico

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Site Manager for our Questa, New Mexico industrial wastewater treatment facility. Be involved in projects with our Mining Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

  • With the Lead Operator, Site HES Representative, and Lead Maintenance Technician, form the Site Project Management Team for the Questa Mine Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP) near Questa, New Mexico.

  • Supervise, organize and coordinate the daily operations and maintenance of the WTP with staff to meet work goals; ensure site activities are in compliance with laws, policies, regulations and goals; demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times and streamline work processes; respond to requests for information and provide technical support and information to site staff within scope of experience.

  • Supervise assigned staff; meet regularly with staff to resolve workload and technical issues; prioritize and assign tasks and projects; assist WSP project management with training and evaluating staff; monitor site staff work and safety performance and provide instruction on work / safety performance as needed; ensure staff adhere to policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and client requirements.

  • Provide input into plans for plant / process improvement.

  • Assist Lead Maintenance Technician with ordering and maintaining parts and supply inventories; assist Lead Operators with ordering process and laboratory chemicals and supplies.

  • Inspect plant processes and equipment, analyze instrument readings and laboratory data; participate in decisions on plant process operations; assist with monthly report preparation for review by Project Manager

  • Assist the Site HES Representative with site personnel safety training.

  • Assist the site HES Representative with ensuring OSHA compliance and safe practices are being followed by staff.

  • Assist the Lead Maintenance Technician with the preventive maintenance program as needed; ensure equipment needing repair remains isolated until repaired.

  • Conduct tours of the WTP and other facilities as requested by Client and WSP.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 3+ years’ experience managing operations and maintenance (O&M) staff at wastewater treatment plants or similar facilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot wastewater treatment processes or similar automated process systems.

  • Excellent understanding of Health and Safety practices and mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and Holidays as necessary. Candidate may need to work 12-hour shifts (am or pm) and extra time as necessary.

  • Willing to relocate to a reasonable commuting distance from the WTP at the Questa Mine, near Questa, New Mexico.

  • Ability to wear PPE and perform moderate physical activity; ability to lift and carry items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds; crawling, bending, climbing, kneeling, squatting and working confined spaces as necessary.

  • Ability to obtain a 40-hour OSHA HazWOPER certificate or have a current certificate.

  • Ability to safely operate a company vehicle.

  • Ability to walk on unimproved areas of the site.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Chevron Operational Excellence Management (COEM).

  • New Mexico wastewater treatment operator certification "D" level or higher.

  • Associate degree or higher with emphasis on business management, project management, safety management or human resources.
