Job Description

WSP has an immediate opportunity available for a highly skilled Jr. Crew Chief in our Raleigh, NC location. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with an exceptional management team, highly regarded in the market, and within a supportive and collaborative company culture.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Using survey instruments to perform field surveys for civil transportation projectsKeep accurate and complete field notes

  • Communicate with office staff, train team members

  • Operate Leica robotic instrument, operate Leica total station, Leica data collector, Leica GPS (fast static, RTK and VRS), auto level and download data into computers each night

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HS degree or GED

  • 5+ years of land survey experience

  • Prior experience as a Jr. Party Chief

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Successful candidate must be willing to travel from time to time

  • Self-motivated, highly reliable and great work ethic

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments

  • Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural or urban surroundings

  • Ability to travel as projects dictate

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening, including a valid Driver's license

  • This role is subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of the client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Topographic Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Construction Layout, & GPS Surveys

  • Experience with collecting field data in a line work format a plus

  • Associates Degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology or related areas
