WSP is currently initiating a search for a Transportation Civil (Roadway) Technical Excellence Center (TEC) Lead for Southwest Mountain as part of the Texas Southwest District. Southwest Mountain covers Utah, Colardo, Arizona and New Mexico . This position can be based out of an office in any of the states it covers. The Civil TEC Lead will focus on business development, marketing, and project pursuits that will help to further strengthen our presence in Southwest states markets. This person will provide leadership to a talented group of professionals spanning all career levels as they work on a multitude of transportation projects. The Civil TEC Lead will rely upon Civil Engineering background to excel at client relations, business development and mentoring staff.

Your Impact

  • Provide leadership, oversight, mentoring and overall management of the Civil Team

  • Leads growth and development of the Civil team, including interfacing with the Local Business Leader, meeting with clients to develop and expand work, and strategically teaming with other consultants.

  • Performs a range of marketing and business development activities, including gathering client intelligence, leading pursuits and proposals, and interfacing through professional organizations.

  • Manages tasks as part of project development, including plan and report production.

  • Interfaces with staff from a range of other disciplines (traffic, civil, planning, geotechnical, etc.) to support a diverse range of projects.

  • Improve overall quality and delivery of projects throughout discipline.

  • Assists in supporting agency coordination, permitting, and public participation activities.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.

  • 12+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering, civil and infrastructure design.

  • Engineer license required (multi-state preferred) in Utah, Colorado, Arizona and/or New Mexico.

  • Advanced proficiency with civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, standard of care, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.

  • Minimum 5 years leading, managing and mentoring teams of Structural engineers and technicians.

  • Demonstrated experience with State and local governments, contractors, transportation agencies and professional organizations.

  • Strong history and experience with DOT projects and programs.

  • Strong project management skills and experience.

  • Strong technical skills relevant to bridge/ structural design and analysis.

  • Working experience with marketing, business development, project pursuits, and proposal preparation.

  • Experience mentoring and developing technical capabilities of mid-level and junior staff.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong (proven) management and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs.

  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.

  • Experience within designated states (UT, AZ, CO, NM).

  • Strong experience in managing the review and approval of documents and discipline-specific deliverables, certifications, processes, and plans in a multi-project environment is highly desirable.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (Colorado): $146,700 - $264,300

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
