WSP USA FAA Pavement Inspector in San Diego, California

This Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a concrete a FAA Pavement Inspector/Field Engineer to inspect, monitor, document and make field decisions for FAA pavement construction at commercial and general aviation airports. Applicant must be able to interpret plans and specifications and be able to make decisions regarding compliance with plans and specifications, must be able to review submittals and evaluate percent within limits and pay factors, be able to communicate with airfield personnel by radio, monitor jobsite safety and security as the project owner’s representative. Position is mainly for night work during airport closures. This is a technical field position that requires travel to various locations within Los Angeles and San Diego Counties. The ideal candidate will be available for immediate employment followed with an assignment that will continue for the long term. The candidate must be capable of rigorous physical activity.

Your Impact

  • Inspection of FAA pavement construction and technical and field technical support.

  • Monitoring construction / work for compliance with approved drawings, standards, and specifications

  • Communication and interaction with owners, contractors, engineers, and other inspectors/ technicians

  • Writing daily field reports in digital format

  • Participate in WSP safety meetings

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 10+ years experience in FAA paving inspection including P-401 an P-501

  • Willing and able to work nights

  • Able to pass security background checks for access to secured areas of airports

  • Geneal knowledge of airfield marking and lighting

  • Experience performing QA/QC during construction

  • Dependability, honesty, and integrity

  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office applications, Adobe PDFs

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be able to work well independently and with others

  • Decision making skills

  • Self-starter

  • Valid Driver License

  • Sufficient physical stamina to work long hours outdoors under various field conditions and exposure to traffic, airport ground traffic, extreme heat, cold, and rainfall.

  • Working on uneven terrain

  • Ability to lift 25+ lbs.

  • Must pass a physical and background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Compensation

Expected Salary: $38.85- $56.59/hr

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
