WSP USA Senior CEI Inspector in Tampa, Florida

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior CEI Inspector for our Tampa office. Be involved in projects with our Florida Construction Management Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

Job Duties:

  • Interpret plans and perform independent technical assignments to ensure inspection and monitoring of construction activities performed on roadway and bridge construction projects.

  • Verify that construction activities are performed according to the contract documents, including specifications, plans, standard plans, permits, policies and procedures.

  • Perform materials testing using hand tools, gauges and/or instruments in accordance with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) requirements and scope of services.

  • Use various engineering tools, equipment, instruments, and computers for performing technical tasks, problem solving and record keeping.

  • Maintain detailed accurate records of operations and significant events: Complete and enter Daily Work Reports into client's database.

  • Prepare documentation to validate payments to roadway contractors.

  • Monitor and inspect the Work Zone Temporary Traffic Control (device usage, installation/placement, and materials to ensure safe work zones). Review work site activities for conformance with safety regulations and take corrective measures when deficiencies are identified.

  • Monitor Environmental Permits compliance.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior construction inspection experience.

  • Knowledge of concepts, terminology and principles of road and bridge construction

  • Highly familiar with construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, process, methods and techniques.

  • Highly familiar with relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.

  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.

  • Sound self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

  • Analytical mindset to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.

  • Ability to effectively communicate (orally and in writing) and maintain good working relationships with contractors, utility companies, FDOT and others

  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, spreadsheets, and tools.

  • Ability to provide input and feedback to others in the field such as subcontractors and work colleagues to consistently complete tasks safely, efficiently, and accurately according to specifications.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

  • Ability to work nights and weekends and be available for emergency response work as necessary.

  • Valid Class E driver’s license

  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Certifications (must have or achieve within 3 months):

  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I (level II required if bridges)

  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I & II

  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I & II

  • CTQP Pile Driving Inspection

  • CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection (required for inspection of drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as sign structures, lighting structures, and traffic signal structures)

  • CTQP Final Estimates Level I

  • FDOT Intermediate Temporary Traffic Control
