WSP USA New Grad Civil Designer in Thornhill, Ontario
The Opportunity:
WSP is currently seeking a recent university graduate to join our Ontario Highway Design Team with their base office in one of three locations (Ottawa, Thornhill, or Mississauga). The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of multidiscipline highway design projects (ranging from low traffic volume two lane secondary highways to high traffic volume multi-lane freeways).

What you can expect to do here:
Be trained in all aspects of the technical delivery of highway and drainage designs, including design software such as but not limited to; InRoads, OpenRoads, MicroStation, Project Wise, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, AutoTurn, Microsoft Project, Excel, BIM Software (Navisworks, Dynamo, Power BI) etc.
Attend project site visits to see and document existing conditions
Prepare technical analysis and design, including alignments, geometrics, cost estimating, quantity calculations, technical memos, reports etc.
Produce designs based on planning strategies and pre-engineering studies
Draft contract specifications and documentation
Attend Technical meetings and prepare presentation materials and meeting minutes
Review of design and drawings prepared by team
Quality checks of drawings/designs prepared by you and other team members
Other duties as assigned
What you’ll bring to WSP:
University degree in Engineering (Civil preferred), some work experience in highway/roadway design is an asset
Registered with PEO is an asset
An intent to register as a Professional Engineer designation in Ontario as soon as you are eligible
Effective Communication and interpersonal skills
A team player with a willingness to collaborate and help others
Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving digital technologies and methodologies
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet project deadlines
Valid G Driver’s license is an asset
