WSP USA Project Manager, Commissioning in Toronto, Ontario
The Opportunity:
WSP is currently seeking a Commissioning Project Manager to join our Commissioning Team in Toronto, ON. This is a position, with a preference for candidates with 5-10 years of experience working with HVAC and Controls building systems including construction, contract administration, design, project management and commissioning experience. Candidates are preferred to have field experience in commissioning and an understanding of industry standards such as LEED, CSA and ASHRAE. Additional experience in engineering, testing and balancing, building operations, controls, maintenance, or system installation will be advantageous.
Reporting to the Southern Ontario Commissioning Department manager, this position will be responsible for executing commissioning and commissioning-related services primarily on new building construction projects which will range in type, size and complexity, to achieve project deadlines and financial expectations. This is a customer-facing role that requires collaboration with both internal and external resources to deliver project expectations. What you will do at WSP
Be responsible for delivering commissioning and commissioning-related services primarily on new building construction projects which will range in type, size and complexity.
Project manage the commissioning process on multiple projects simultaneously while achieve project deliverables, deadlines and financial expectations.
Interact successfully with multi-discipline internal and external project teams.
Develop and maintain good client relationships.
Achieve project objectives (such as is detailed in: Owner’s Project Requirements, Construction Contract Documents, LEED or other building rating systems).
Develop clear and concise written reports that convey technical information.
Direct and/or conduct and document commissioning and commissioning-related testing.
Provide technical knowledge to troubleshooting building systems during commissioning.
Review and identify design risks to the project including change orders, maintenance challenges, sequence optimizations and end user functions.
Evaluate installations and functional performance of building systems for optimized performance/efficiencies.
Chair project commissioning meetings and provide commissioning-related advice to the project Commissioning Team.
Contribute to the improvement of internal processes and documentation.
Assist with writing proposals and quotations and win new projects.
Perform other duties as assigned/required.
Projects will primarily be located in the Toronto area, however, occasional travel throughout Ontario may be required. Access to a personal vehicle is required. Travel expenses will need to be paid prior to reimbursement.
What you'll bring to WSP
Have 5-10 years of experience working with building systems including commissioning experience. Experience with HVAC and Controls is preferred.
Possess excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
Have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and tasks on each project, and be able to adapt to shifting priorities.
Have the desire to continuously learn to work more effectively.
Be willing to travel to projects located outside of Toronto.
Be committed to regularly enhance your technical and professional skills.
Be self-motivated with the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
Be punctual, reliable, detail-oriented, and very organized.
Certification as a P.Eng. (or EIT) with PEO (Professional Engineers Ontario) is an asset..
Maintain credentials related to commissioning or a plan to achieve these credentials (such as: ACP, CCP, BCxP, LEED AP) is preferred but not mandatory.
Possess a valid Class G Driver’s License.
