WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full Time Sr. Superintendent (Construction with a Civil / Fire Alarm Systems Background emphasis) (NIGHT SHIFT) for our Clients Albany NY, Field Office Location. Your Impact

  • Provide assistance to New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Project Manager as directed

  • Overall contract compliance via night time coverage inspections of abatement activities and fire alarm installation scope

  • Completion of Daily Field reports which tract weather, contractor activities, sub-contractors, visitors, field directives, and manpower.

  • Issue project Change/Field Orders and review contractor proposals.

  • Assist in coordinating contractor’s daily work activities

  • Assist in coordinating quality control of contractors work

  • Help to resolve design issues and questions from contractor

  • Coordinating contractor’s Code Compliance

  • Manage and monitor contractor safety

  • Assist in coordinating with EIC on project closeout

  • Actively manage, focus on civil mechanical, electrical and plumbing components for various clients

  • Actively track, monitor, research validity and compliance with Contract documents for all work from inception to final closure.

  • Communicate with Contractors and project team.

  • Manage project contract documents, codes, policies and procedures

  • Ensure compliance with generally accepted standards of workmanship

  • Offer recommendations to improve constructability

  • Complete punchlists and track completion

  • Coordination and scheduling with 3rd party specialty inspections (ie: asbestos abatement monitoring or steel inspection)

  • Assist PM or EIC with payment application review, writing minutes of project meetings, preparing regular reports, field inspections as required and other duties related to construction site activities

  • Perform additional duties as deemed necessary

  • Travel throughout the region may be required, vehicle will be necessary with valid driver’s license.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma

  • 11 years minimum experience in construction involving multiple phases of large-scale building/rehabilitation projects valued above $10 million, with knowledge of all facets of construction and construction documents.

  • A minimum of 4 years of the experience shall be in the role of assistant project manager responsible for large scale projects valued above $10 million with an extensive knowledge of all facets of construction and construction documents.

  • Must be able to manage the various projects using established controls and procedures and provide job site leadership in all areas of scheduling, safety, quality, coordination with the designers and any critical issues pertinent to the project or the client / facility.

  • Strong Civil Engineering background with experience of inspection requirements for various trades,especially coverage of abatement activities and fire alarm installation scope.

  • Have a full working knowledge of the change order and cost review process and the review / approval of contractor’s payment application.

  • Proficient in basic computer skills utilizing Windows / Outlook / Word / Excel and scheduling applications

  • Understanding of construction scheduling utilizing Primavera P6

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Valid driver’s license - Occasional travel within the region may be required.

  • Must be available to work alternate work hours - night time coverage.

  • Proven ability to adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • This hire will be contingent upon client selection and successful background check. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • This role is subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of the client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Civil project background is preferred

  • Knowledge of NYS Building Code

  • Experience with Submittal Exchange, Bluebeam and Primavera P6 preferred.

  • Experience with Institutional Construction preferred.

  • E&SC experience and certifocation preferred

  • OSHA 30 Certification Required

Compensation and Benefits:

Expected Salary: $78,200 - $136,730
