WSP USA Consultant Ecologist in United Kingdom

The successful applicant will be working as an integral member of the ecology team, delivering the highest standards of technical work and aiding the continued expansion of the ecology business through client focused delivery. The work will be diverse and involve all aspects of ecological consultancy with a focus on undertaking surveys, preparing reporting deliverables and implementing mitigation on the ground. You will work closely with experienced ecologists who will provide technical guidance and support enabling you to develop in your career in consultancy. You will have the opportunity to work throughout the UK and potentially overseas.

  • Planning and undertaking Extended Phase 1 habitat surveys;

  • Planning and undertaking Phase 2 species and habitat surveys;

  • Technical report production including; survey reports, management plans, mitigation strategies and inputs for protected species licence applications and impact assessments;

  • Project management; to include client and stakeholder liaison, financial management and project programming in line with our business management system.

  • An appropriate academic qualification in a related discipline, a member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (or working towards membership).

  • Demonstrable experience in ecological consultancy, ideally to include extended Phase 1 habitat survey, a range of protected species surveys, and experience providing ecologist support to contractors.

  • A holder (or working towards) of a European protected species survey licence.

  • A good understanding of relevant wildlife legislation and ecological survey methods which can be applied in the planning and delivery of project work.

  • Excellent report writing skills with a focus on quality and attention to detail.

  • A valid driving licence and you are comfortable working in remote locations.

  • Enthusiasm plus excellent communication skills.

  • A pragmatic and proactive approach to project work, whilst delivering technical expertise.
