The Stations team within WSP’s Rail business are actively seeking Principal / Associate Mechanical Engineer to lead teams delivering mechanical building services designs for Railway Stations and other Railway Buildings across the UK and around the world.

The role includes all aspects of technical delivery, work winning and client engagement with opportunities for onward progression. The team offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate to enhance their career and deliver some of the most prestigious Rail Stations Projects in the UK.

  • Produce and supervise high quality, industry leading building designs

  • Realise WSP’s and our client net zero carbon commitments and ambitions by delivering highly sustainable, low carbon design.

  • Become part of the wider WSP business by sharing knowledge and technical skills with colleagues from around the globe.

  • Work in an environment that allows you to use your own initiative with support from specific specialist experience to deliver high-quality engineering solutions

  • Supervise the completion of detailed designs and supervise the work of others in this function, whilst maximising joint learning opportunities for the wider business

  • Interpretation of client specification requirements in the development of designs

  • Design of pipework including heating, cooling, hot and cold water systems

  • Design of ventilation systems including general ventilation systems

  • Selection of plant and equipment items based upon designs produced including but not limited to Air Handling Units, Fans, Pumps, Pressurisation Units, Boilers, Heat emitters, Chillers, Ductwork and ductwork ancillaries, Pipework and pipework ancillaries

  • Detail working knowledge of compliance requirements to Building Regulations, Part L and other MEP sustainable and Net Zero design requirements.

You will be involved in delivering the major railway stations from early concept to handover. With the unparallel opportunity to stretch and further your knowledge and exceptional culture of support to enhance your capabilities and skills which can put your career in a growth trajectory.

  • Experience of mechanical building services design in the Rail environment, including: heating, cooling, hot and cold water, and ventilation systems

  • Qualifications meeting the requirements for Chartership with a UK Engineering Institution

  • Understanding of:

  • of the requirements of Network Rail and/or London Underground standards

  • of the design of controls/BMS for mechanical systems

  • of the design of above ground plumbing and waste systems, of the design of rainwater disposal systems and of the design of drainage systems

YOUR TEAM

  • You will work closely with like-minded individuals on exciting and challenging projects.

  • Rail Station MEP team consist of more than 70 mechanical, electrical and Public Health Engineers.

  • You will join a team of professionally qualified, diverse, talented individuals who collaborate to:

  • Undertake project work from across the design lifecycle, including early concept stage to detail design

  • Deliver projects for Network Rail, HS2, TfL, Transport for The North, TfGM, Nexus, Local Authorities, Principal Contractors and Private Developers

Reporting to a senior member of our stations team, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting a challenging multi-disciplinary Rail stations projects around.
