WSP USA Senior Proposals Manager in United Kingdom

The Senior Proposal Manager will be responsible for establishing, managing, technical input and supporting the bid team, liaising with clients and partners as required, organising appropriate reviews & approvals and submitting the proposal. They will lead development of win strategies, tender planning, appropriate reviewsand response delivery including handover to delivery teams of won opportunities. The role will also

involve promoting work winning best practice through their work on opportunities, coaching others and training initiatives as required.

UK wide travel (and potentially overseas) will be required.

Leading and managing complex and high value strategic bids

Ensuring that appropriate bid governance and bid review processes are followed.

Providing technical and commercial input to the strategic bid capture planning process.

Working with Prospect Directors to develop winning strategies for the prospect.

Assisting in prospect qualification throughout.

Understanding internal and external customer requirements and provide commensurate expertise inrespect of support, management and leadership of strategic bids.

Providing challenge to operational, technical, commercial and financial proposals to facilitate the development of solutions that provide greatest benefit for the businesses whilst delivering customer requirements and needs.

Working with bid authors to convert knowledge from operational and business development staff into winning solutions and proposals.

Collaborating with bid partners (clients, contractors, sub-consultants, suppliers) to ensure value propositions are properly articulated and incorporated into proposals.

Supporting Prospect Directors in development of commercial approach and pricing strategy to ensure different elements of submission are consistent and aligned.

Attending external events to support development of proposals and solutions including Industry Days, Tender Workshops and Client Presentations

Supporting lessons learnt from bids. Analysing each bid, including customer feedback, to identify good practice and share with staff across the business to suggest improvements to process and teamdynamics.

Training and coaching colleagues on the bid process and associated skills.

Contributing to the overall development of the Industry bidding capability.

Collating market and competitor information that will be useful to WSP in the future.

Managing and developing any direct reports

Qualified to degree level in an appropriate subject.

Member of relevant professional institution (preferable but not essential).

Good experience in a similar role in engineering and construction with an understanding of the chemicals, pharma and gas sectors.

Good experience of producing tenders within the markets that WSP operates.

Technical expertise in Industrial Projects

Demonstrable record of success in winning bids.

Good awareness and understanding of bid governance and bid review processes.

Good bid writing, resource management, and commercial skills.

Strong and effective verbal and written communication, team player, collaborative.

Robust project management skills with a meticulous approach to detail and quality.

Strong time management skills and ability to prioritise.

A Pro-active approach, using initiative and taking responsibility for own actions.

The ability to assimilate large volumes of information and understand, plan and manage associated workflows.

The ability to develop strong relationships and rapport with external clients and internal colleagues. Excellent people skills to lead, encourage, motivate and enthuse others

Passion for quality and continuous improvement with a focus on delivery.

Effective delegation to all levels, where required.
