WSP is currently initiating a search for a Assistant Engineer for our Lisle, IL office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in design reviews for roadway and barrier warrant analysis disciplines
Assist in managing annual updates of standards and manuals
Work safely adjacent to a high-speed transportation facility
Inspect the civil infrastructure of the Illinois Tollway
Write reports based on data collected from field inspections
Perform engineering assignments and work from designs of others, compile data, perform design computations, prepare engineering documents, memos and recommendations
Manage asset management database
Effectively and clearly communicate to a wide range of professionals, inside and outside the organization
Provide unique solutions to engineering problems

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a closely related field
Minimum of 0-1 years of experience in a related field.
Ability to rapidly absorb and interpret technical information
Ability to grasp modern design and development principles
Ability to manage assignments independently
Ability to read and understand civil/roadway construction plans
Excellent communication and technical writing skills
Strong attention to detail while demonstrating an ability and willingness to learn
Proficiency in Microstation, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Illinois Tollway design and construction standards and criteria
Experience with field inspection
Illinois Tollway or IDOT experience
Ability to obtain Certified Engineer-in-Training within one year
Experience with Cartegraph OMS
